FIRST Tech Challenge is excited to welcome Rachel Moore to as our new Senior Director.
Rachel brings a wealth of experience from both inside and outside of FIRST. She is a FIRST alumnus and has served many roles in FIRST including mentor, event volunteer, and delivery partner. She also brings industry experience as an Electrical Engineer, having worked at both REV Robotics and Texas Instruments.
Rachel began her FIRST career as a student on FIRST Robotics Competition Team 118, Robonauts. After high school she attended Texas Tech University earning both a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering.
After graduation, Rachel started her professional career at Texas Instruments (it’s more than just calculators!) as a Test Engineer and later worked as a Validation and Application Engineer supporting battery charger and battery charge management solutions for cell phones and laptops. She then joined REV Robotics as employee #1 where she wore many different hats including product design, documentation, and support.
In 2018, Rachel joined FIRST in Texas as the Area Director for North Texas (DFW Area), primarily supporting FIRST Robotics Competition teams and the transition to the district model. She then returned to Texas Instruments where she has spent the past 4 years as a Controls Engineering Manager for their Facilities group supporting manufacturing at TI’s most advanced semiconductor fabrication site.
In addition to her professional careering, Rachel has also volunteered with FIRST for nearly 20 years as a team mentor and event volunteer across a wide variety of roles. Since 2013 she has been the Team Principal for the RoboChargers FIRST program managing multiple FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge teams as well as their FIRST Robotics Competition program. During this time, she also ran qualifying events for all three FIRST programs and supported events in several volunteer positions including FTA, Volunteer Coordinator, and Robot Inspector. In 2015 she was honored to be awarded both the Volunteer of the Year Award at the Dallas Regional and the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award at the Hub City Regional.
Please join us in officially welcoming Rachel on board!
